EM Systems New Products

The Sharewell EM System, currently in final stage of development, represents a completely new and revolutionary approach to facilitating underground wireless telemetry. Developed using technologies normally associated with deep space navigation and missile guidance systems, the Sharewell EM System provides a wireless communication link between sensors deployed deep in oil and gas wells and data-acquisition equipment located on surface.

Unlike conventional electromagnetic receivers, the Sharewell EM data fusion receiver utilizes multiple input channels to fuse various input/receive sources into a single, decodable message. This enhances the receiver’s ability to extract very weak signals from large amounts of ambient noise by allowing the receiver to more effectively discriminate that signal.

Every element of the Sharewell EM System design, from power efficiency to reliability, has been optimized to extend operational length and improve noise immunity. The system includes a rugged down-hole tool assembly consisting of a gap-sub antenna package (designed to mate to a 6.5” drill collar), an electronics assembly and battery package. The Sharewell EM System surface package includes a power amplifier to provide two-way communication with the down-hole tool assembly.

As a result, the Sharewell EM System is ideally suited for facilitating MWD, well logging, drill stem testing and other real-time down-hole operations associated with oil and gas exploration. The Sharewell EM System is especially suited for real-time telemetry support for under-balanced drilling operations where mud-pulse telemetry is not a viable option.
